Two-Day Training Programme on Bamboo Propagation and Management

A two-day training programme on Bamboo Propagation, Plantation Management, and Processing and Treatment was successfully conducted by Bamboo Technical Support Group (BTSG)-KFRI at the Neelakurinji & Velimalay Bamboo Artisans (SHG) Federation, Nalepilly, Palakkad, on March 27 and 28, 2026.
The programme commenced with a welcome address and course briefing delivered by Dr A V Raghu, Training Coordinator and Head of the Extension & Training Division, KFRI. The first technical session on bamboo diversity and propagation methods was led by Dr K K Seethalakshmi, Director of Research, IRTC, Mundur and former Chief Scientist at KFRI. Dr. Raghu also delivered a subsequent session on livelihood opportunities in bamboo.
On the second day, participants were given hands-on training in bamboo propagation techniques by Mr. Jibi P. O., field staff of the KFRI Bamboo Nursery. The interactive session allowed participants to gain practical exposure and skills in bamboo cultivation practices. The training aimed at enhancing knowledge and promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities through bamboo-based activities.
