Hands-on Training in Bamboo Propagation and Processing at KFRI

A five-day training programme on “Bamboo Propagation, Plantation Management, Processing and Treatment” was successfully conducted at the Kerala Forest Research Institute (KFRI), Peechi, from 9 to 13 February 2026. The programme was organised by KSCSTE-KFRI, in association with the Kerala State Bamboo Mission, to enhance technical knowledge and practical skills in bamboo-based technologies.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Kannan C. S. Warrier, Director, KFRI. Over the five days, participants were provided with comprehensive theoretical and practical exposure to various aspects of bamboo science and technology. The sessions covered topics such as Introduction to the world of bamboo, bamboo disease and pest management, tissue culture techniques, propagation methods, plantation management, and bamboo treatment and processing.
The programme concluded on 13 February 2026 with experience sharing, evaluation of the training, and distribution of certificates. Participants expressed satisfaction with the practical orientation of the programme and highlighted its sefulness in promoting sustainable bamboo development and strengthening bamboo-based livelihood opportunities.
